(MKA®) Roof Consulting services include a team of Engineers, Architects, and Roofers whose broad construction background includes experience in roofing design and installation. We leverage our expansive knowledge and expertise in a forensic approach that provides both realistic and practical solutions. Experienced in roof diagnostics, our key team members are comprised of credentialed Engineers and Architects as well as Registered Roofing Consultants (RRC) and Registered Roof Observers (RRO). We have a long history of assisting various Clients including Insurance Companies, Law Firms, Owners, Contractors, Developers, and Designers.
MKA has consulted for every roof type and slope from low-rise to high-rise residential, commercial and industrial structures. We assess roof impairment, damage on roofs and building envelopes that result from natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, hail, storms, and fires.
Our Roof Consultants use the latest testing technology for nuclear moisture detection, thermal imaging, and aerial drones. MKA performs surveys to document prevailing conditions, core sampling, wind uplift testing, and code and ordinance compliance review. We also assess and identify installed systems/components to analyze if they have been properly maintained. Our team regularly interacts with Contractors, and as a result, we have the ability to efficiently and effectively identify inaccurate damage appraisals and scopes of repair. We routinely review code and ordinance requirements and advise on applicability and scope. Furthermore, MKA’s Roof Consultants meet and discuss requirements with local officials as required. We provide Litigation Support and are experienced on assignments that involve cause and origin investigations for defective products, deficient workmanship and/or design. Typical services include analyzing defective conditions as they relate to performance representations, proper design, code and ordinance compliance, materials compatibility and proper installation.
Our highly-skilled Roof Consultants have the capability and experience to perform all of the necessary investigation activities including undertaking intrusive inspections and subsequent materials testing. We provide Expert Testimony and demonstrative models and or exhibits on projects that are the subject of Litigation or in an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) forum as well as in the Appraisal process. We are capable of providing opinions on Design Professional Standard of Care, General Contractors Standard of Care as well as on many of the Sub-Contractors involved in the Roofing installation. We routinely prepare proportional fault analysis in both simple and complex cases. These analyses include the monetary aspects if requested.
