Insurance Industry and Claims Professionals

MKA International, Inc. (MKA) set the bar on having multiple professional disciplines under one roof. Our credentialed and licensed Construction Consultants and Engineers assess, evaluate and assist our Clients in the Insurance Industry on some of the most challenging Property, Liability and Surety claims.

Our founding Principal, Mr. Jozef Knepper’s firsthand experience with the catastrophic fire loss at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas in 1980 led to MKA’s establishment.  Over the past 35-years, we have grown to over 24 fully-staffed offices working across 10 professional discipline groups throughout the United States. In addition to our national reach, our team serves most Insurance and Independent Adjuster companies worldwide.

MKA® services include professional discipline groups who are highly experienced Construction and Engineering Consultants that provide claims assessment assistance for property damage to structures and infrastructure. We perform comprehensive investigations regarding the cause and extent of property damage and can design the repairs, prepare accurate cost estimates, and manage repair programs.

Our status as a reputable Employee Owned Company (ESOP) means Clients can enjoy complete peace of mind knowing that they are working with experienced Construction and Engineering Consultants, well-versed in the bedside manner of Property Insurance claims and professional in every regard.

Property Loss Claims

Time is of the essence when it comes to First-Party Property Loss assignments. Damage Assessment and Scope of Repairs, as well as the preparation of the Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), are typically covered within the first 24 hours. We are sensitive to Code/Ordinance compliance and consider Business Interruption/Extra Expense aspects during our assessments, depending on the assignment. In order to facilitate repairs or prepare bid documents, we undertake designs and provide Clerk of the Works monitoring for both Restoration and Clean-up phases, as well as during the repair process. From initial Construction Audits all the way through to final negotiations, MKA stays involved.

Builder's Risk/Course of Construction

Builder’s Risk/Course of Construction Claims demand immediate attention due to the fact that work is in progress and Contracts govern expectations in performance and design. We have experience working with all types of contracted parties and can, therefore, cater to a variety of interests. We are experienced in working within the confines of the prevailing Contracts and their progress at the Time of Loss. Our multi-disciplined staff of professionals experienced in the Construction industry have expertise with Prevailing Contracts, progress at the Time of Loss, and Scheduling and Construction Management. They understand the implications of project schedule disruption on the momentum of the work.

Liability Claims
Liability Claims

Our founding Principal, Mr. Jozef Kneppers, has been doing Construction Defect litigation since 1981. As a firm, MKA has over 35 years of experience representing both the Plaintiff and the Defendants. Our Construction Managers, Specialty Trade Contractors, licensed General Contractors, Engineers, Architects, Roofing Consultants and Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical Engineers can provide fault analysis and cost mitigation strategies for any Construction Defect litigation parties.

Our Forensic Architects, Civil/Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and Construction Consultants have significant experience assisting with forensic investigations involving a broad range of projects including Personal Injuries, Building Codes,  Construction, and Slip-Trip-Fall accidents. We provide litigation support and Expert Witness Testimony to the legal, insurance and business communities on claims and legal disputes involving OSHA Compliance, Construction, Design and Installation Defects/Disputes for all building types.

Aside from Construction Defects, most liability insurance claims emanate from Subrogation matters. MKA understands the complexity of these claims as they relate to Builder’s Risk/Course of Construction and Property Loss Claims and is well versed in finding a resolution.
