We are seeking to add highly motivated, junior- to mid-level Engineers and/or Geologists to the team of multi-disciplinary civil and geo-professionals in our California offices. The individual will have knowledge in the behavior of soils and subsurface geology and their interaction with building and structural components for use in forensic analysis of a wide variety of project types including buildings, civil infrastructure, retaining walls, excavations, slopes, foundations, power generation and distribution systems, water retention and conveyance facilities, and much more. Experience in performing failure cause & origin analysis on soils, subsurface geology and building system interaction, authoring geotechnical engineering evaluations/technical reports, and construction litigation is desired. Material types investigated include, but are not limited to, soil, bedrock, concrete, aggregates, asphalt, masonry, wood and metals.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

• Field work to document as-built conditions and extent of damage as a result of natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) and/or human induced origins (design and construction errors/omissions). Natural events can include large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
• Utilize building codes, technical knowledge of civil and geotechnical methods, and understanding of construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations as well as cause and origin analyses.
• Evaluate subsurface exploration (via drilling, test pits, etc.) and evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
• Perform geotechnical analyses, including shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, trench work, temporary retaining systems, dams and flood control systems, storm water and drainage systems, pavements, liquefaction, settlement and seismic assessments.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors and provide detailed reports.
• Manage multiple project assignments, executing them on time and within budget.
• Retention and development of client relationships.
• Willingness to travel, as needed, on short notice at times.

Education and Experience requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Geology from an ABET accredited program required.
• California Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES examination, Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Geologist, or Geologist in Training (GIT) or the ability to obtain licensure is required. Multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) is a plus.  Minimum 3 Years’ Engineering/Geology experience or Master’s Degree.
• Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience of geotechnical/geological engineering concepts, principles and practices.
• Knowledge of multiple types of construction, a plus.
• Field experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

We are seeking to add a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Architect to our team of multi-disciplinary consultants. Individual will have knowledge in the behavior of building enclosures and their components for use in forensic analyses relating to residential, commercial, industrial facilities, marine and inland structures. Experience in performing failure cause & origin analysis on building systems, authoring technical reports, and construction litigation is desired. Building envelope types include, but are not limited to, cladding, wall enclosures, roofing systems, and fenestration components.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

• Perform forensic investigations of building envelope failures.
• Diagnose failures in building envelope systems and recommend solutions for remediation of those failures.

• Field experience. Must be able to physically carry and climb ladders for roof access, as well as navigate steep-slope roofing up to 6:12. Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in providing Litigation Support including Expert Testimony at Depositions and/or Trial, Mediation or Arbitration proceedings, a plus.
• Registered Roof Observer (RRO) and Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) designations are a plus.

We are seeking to add a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level Professional Engineer to our team of multi-disciplinary engineers. The Engineer will conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis for electrical equipment and/or mechanical equipment and processes through construction knowledge and engineering principles. Electrical equipment types included, but not limited to low, medium and high voltage switchgear, panelboards and transformers, data and communication systems, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, electrical appliances, etc. Facilities types include power generating and distribution systems, commercial and industrial facilities, municipal buildings and infrastructure assets, and residential properties.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

Natural events can include large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
• Utilize building codes, technical knowledge, and understanding of construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations as well as cause and origin analyses.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
• Provide electrical support for the fire origin and cause consultants/engineers to determine electrical causes of fires, a plus.
• Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors to address construction issues and provide detailed reports.
• Manage multiple project assignments, executing them on time and within budget.
• Retention and development of client relationships.
• Willing to travel, as needed, on short notice at times.

Education and Experience requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in California through NCEES examination. Multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) a plus. Minimum 10 Years Electrical Engineering experience in design or other background that promotes an understanding of electrical systems and equipment
